Felicity Is Getting Pink Hair And More In New Arrow Season 7 Images

Are you feeling a little blue waiting for Arrow to return? Well, prepare to feel a little pink. OK maybe very pink thanks to Felicity’s colorful new hairdo. There will definitely be no shortage of change for Felicity when Season 7 begins and she has apparently decided not to hold back on making a few more. With her husband in prison, Felicity has decided to rock a whole new look. See it for yourself below!

While her new hair color is one of the more initially apparent changes, Felicity has made to her visage, in the picture above she is also showing off some piercings. There is one near her eye and one on her nose. It is not the first time Arrow viewers have seen the genius sporting a look very similar to this. In the fifth episode of Season 3, the show revealed Felicity’s “origin story” and her penchant for dressing like a goth at the time revealed Felicity does like to change her look from time to time.

The second picture released by The CW shows Felicity and Oliver talking through prison glass, an image that showcases the reality and impact of Oliver’s incarceration. While Felicity reacts to seeing her bruised and battered husband, the couple reaches out to touch the glass that separates them. Although we knew that Oliver would be undergoing a brutal stay in prison, Felicity’s condition is not exactly what we expected. See the picture for yourself below:

Yes, Felicity appears to have sustained some sort of head wound. The left-facing portion of her forehead has blood and a bruise on it. With Felicity on the outside of the prison walls, the origin of her injury is not initially as easy to pinpoint as Oliver’s. Of course, it may not be that difficult to figure out. It is yet another angle to Season 7 worth theorizing about. In the third and final picture released, another highly-anticipated reunion takes place. See for yourself below:

Diggle looks solemn as he visits Oliver in prison in the final photo available to show from the upcoming season of Arrow. The duo has been through some rough times together, and this latest hurdle is certainly up there. The still appears to be from the scene shown in the Comic-Con promo between Oliver and Diggle. And while you cannot directly see Oliver’s face in the pic, you can see his bruised reflection in the glass.

Giuliana Rancic’s New Plan: Let Celebrities Talk About—Gasp—*Themselves*

If it’s hard to believe that three full years have passed since Giuliana Rancic stepped down from her co-anchor spot on E! News, that’s because her face has still been everywhere. A consistent red carpet fixture for the better part of two decades, she was fully present for a smattering of viral moments that dominated this year’s awards shows and her Instagram has remained plenty active. Plus, she’s been out promoting other projects, including her eponymously-named Prosecco and a “judgement free” parenting app with her husband, Bill, called Pear.

So, in a way, it seems almost like she hit pause on E! News more so than walking away. But make no mistake: On September 4, Rancic returned to her reign on the nightly show, alongside co-host Jason Kennedy. And she’s got a plan for how to dig back in, at a time when Hollywood is still going through a major reckoning.

“Certainly, in the past year or so, [we’re] having more important conversations, more meaningful conversations, on the red carpet,” Rancic tells Glamour. It’s a marked change from when she began as a correspondent on the network, back in the early aughts. “There was a long period of time in the beginning, really until recently, where viewers wanted to hear about the light things: the beauty, the fashion, the projects. We would do a little bit of everything.”

“I think we’ve gotten away from keeping the focus on the people we’re talking to.”

But, in her view, what’s really changed now—more so than talking about equal pay and inclusion riders on the step and repeat—is the fact that celebrity reporters have gotten away from talking to celebrities about, well, the celebrities themselves. Whereas once the conversation was largely focused on the show, the project, or elements of their personal lives, so much of the dialogue now rests in cultural commentary, which isn’t, innately, a bad thing. But while some are more than happy to take up the role of advocate or social critic, others aren’t quite as cut out for it. Or just don’t care to do it.

And so, Rancic has a philosophy that, right now, sounds at once intuitive and a little bit rogue: “Letting someone just talk about what they want to talk about, and not making them feel like ‘Oh my gosh, I’m going to get asked to talk about something that has nothing to do with me,” she explains. “I want celebrities to feel like, when we do an interview, that it’s about them. I think we’ve gotten away from keeping the focus on the people we’re talking to.”

NBCUniversal Upfront Events - Season 2018

If you think this sounds simplistic, it is. You don’t have to tell Rancic, either; she’s aware of that fact. But she also thinks the time has come for us to get back to the basics. It’s a theory she cooked up while she was a consumer, instead of a creator, of celebrity news over the past few years, based on a recurring observation: “It’s like a lot of other voices [are] jumping into conversations that don’t really have anything to do with them, and they’re not necessarily voluntarily doing that.”

It’s also among the reasons she decided to come back to making the news. “That’s honestly one of the things I’ve been thinking about a lot,” she adds, “how to have more direct, honest conversations with people, about things that apply to them. I think if we do a lot of that, it’s a nice way to start getting back on track.”

Ranic isn’t the only person whose wondered whether or not we’re asking too much of red-carpet conversations that, at the end of the day, are about entertainment: Award shows and interviews don’t have to become our thunderdome for hashing out systemic issues. But it’s also not that Rancic thinks we should stick to fluff—not by a long shot. At the end of the day, like a lot of things, it’s all about balance.

“The way you handle these interviews has a lot to do with who you are as a person.”

“You can be serious, and also have fun, and a minute later say something that moves someone. That’s how I am in my life,” she says. “You just have to be able to read the moment. I think a lot of people—even the people who are using the [red carpet] platform for so much good, and putting up these meaningful messages—know that there needs to be that balance.”

In summary, and maybe to say the least: “It’s a really interesting time,” Rancic says with a laugh. “Everyone’s got to be more prepared on the red carpet, but honestly, my key is to be in the moment,” she says. “It really comes down to: The way you handle these interviews has a lot to do with who you are as a person.”

Why Disco is Back in Fashion—Again

DISCO’S STILL NOT dead—at least not in fashion. While the days of dancing ’til dawn at Studio 54 are barely a memory, designers have gravitated to the era’s glittering exuberance to tap the escapism it represents. This fall, sequins, sparkle and the languid, ’70s silhouettes proffered by Halston are back in the spotlight. From high-shine minis at Saint Laurent to oversize paillettes at Paco Rabanne and unstrict draping at Carolina Herrera, brands are taking cues from nightlife’s most hedonistic age.

“In difficult times, fashion is always outrageous,” wrote surrealist designer Elsa Schiaparelli in her memoir. Had she lived to see disco’s apex, which came just after her 1973 passing, she’d surely agree that its sartorial opulence proved her thesis. Disco can be seen as a reactionary fantasy born out of crisis, specifically the aftermath of the Vietnam War and Watergate scandal. It makes sense, then, that in today’s turbulent sociopolitical climate, designers are embracing the period’s megawatt glam.

“It’s an escape tactic,” said London designer Michael Halpern, who’s been turning heads with sequin-drenched collections since debuting his line last year. “Putting on a sparkly frock or a shiny pair of trousers eases the pain a little bit.” Mr. Halpern’s more extravagant wares, like full-sequin dresses and jumpsuits, which range from $2,100 to over $4,000, are his best-sellers. Those searching for a more accessible indulgence can pick up a piece from his spangled Topshop mini-collection, set to hit in November.

Brandon Maxwell has looked to disco and its heroines, including Bianca Jagger, since launching his line in 2015. “That whole time was about going out and forgetting your troubles,” he said. “It was about dressing up and glamour and losing yourself. And god, don’t we need that right now?”

Indeed, but women also crave modernity, and there’s a fine line between disco-tinged elegance and garish costume. To keep things current, Mr. Maxwell mixes casual pieces—a cropped sweater, for example—with glitzy elements like sequin trousers. Mr. Halpern suggests that the new disco flair needn’t be relegated to nighttime. “I’m not asking someone to wear a sequin jumpsuit to work at 8:30 a.m., but I don’t see why you can’t wear a sequin T-shirt under a cool suit.”

Though Susi Kenna, the Art Basel art fair’s 34-year-old digital and social media manager, likes “a little drama” when she goes out at night in New York, she dismisses the notion that the trend has daytime practicality. After dark, she said, it gives her a chance to play out a fantasy, but “I would never wear something like that to work or brunch.”

Mr. Maxwell countered that parties can become brunches: “I would imagine that, after going to Studio 54, women wore their clothes until the sun came up,” he said, musing that they’d perhaps hit the diner in their disco duds. “That’s just as glamorous—probably even more so.”

CMT’s Artists of the Year Special Will Honor Only Women for the First Time Ever

The CMT Artists of the Year special only honored male performers in 2017, which, unsurprisingly, caused some backlash online. It looks like the network heard people’s complaints, though, because this year’s honorees are exclusively women. Yes, for the first time since its inception eight years ago, the CMT Artists of the Year ceremony will tribute the current queens of country music—and only the queens.

Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Kelsea Ballerini, Maren Morris, Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman, and Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott are the seven women CMT will honor during the show—and each are more than deserving of the praise. Morris took the country and pop music world by storm this year with her crossover hit “The Middle,” featuring Zedd; Lambert spent the first half of the year killing it on tour; and Underwood publicly emerged stronger than ever with her song “Cry Pretty” after enduring a facial injury. (Her album of the same name drops this Friday, September 14.) Little Big Town also found success on tour this year, and Lady Antebellum is still riding the success of their 2017 album Heart Break. Ballerini, meanwhile, was just tapped to be a fifth coach on NBC’s hit competition series The Voice.

“In this monumental year for women, dedicating one of the biggest nights in the genre to applaud female country artists not only solidifies our commitment, but we hope will spark a much-needed change in the industry,” CMT senior VP Leslie Fram said in a statement.

All the women receiving honors this year are returnees, except Morris, who released her first album in June 2016.

The CMT Artists of the Year Awards will air live from Nashville on October 17 at 8 P.M. ET. Mark your calendars accordingly.

How This Brooklyn-Based Artist is Transforming Palestinian Folk Art

THIS MAY, the artist Jordan Nassar reworked a nondescript booth at Frieze New York on Randalls Island into an inviting, relaxed exhibition space, adding embroidered pillows and books to recall an Arab-style majlis, or seating area. Hung on the museum-white walls were framed panels of the Palestinian-Polish-American’s intricately embroidered works, including some made in collaboration with Palestinian women whose craft is the folk art of tatreez embroidery—the heart of his own practice.

The panels featured embroideries of…

Kevin Smith Is Standing Up For Thanos’ Big Snap

After a decade of filmmaking, the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe is coming to a head with the final few installments in Phase Three. Almost every major character in the MCU joined forces to battle Josh Brolin’s Thanos, who was hell bent on destroying half the galaxy in order to “save” its overpopulated occupants. The Russo Brothers threw moviegoing audiences for a loop by allowing the Mad Titan to win, accumulating the Infinity Stones to facilitate his mass murder. Fans were left to watch in horror as their favorite characters turned to dust, and left with nothing but disdain for Thanos in the wake. But comic book aficionado and director Kevin Smith seems to think that the villain wasn’t that bad. After all, he could have killed everyone.

If there’s one word that hasn’t been associated with Thanos, it’s mercy. That is, unless you’re one of his twisted followers from The Black Order. Let’s break down exactly what Kevin Smith is proposing here.

Kevin Smith’s comments come from his most recent Fatman on Batman podcast. A pod dedicated to all things nerdy and comic book related, Smith has weighed in on every silver screen superhero flick you could imagine. This obviously includes Avengers: Infinity War, a blockbuster whose affects are still being felt by the fandom.

Having all of the Infinity Stones certainly gave Thanos the ability to kill every single denizen of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But Josh Brolin’s character always maintained he was doing it for the greater good, as it was the only way to save the Galaxy from its insurmountable overpopulation. And he succeeds, with the film’s final moments revealing a newly revitalized Titan for the Mad Titan to call home. Thanos completed his task, but at what cost?

It should be interesting to see how Thanos’ finger snap is addressed in Avengers 4, which is still nearly a year away. Infinity War ended with Captain America wondering what happened, and that’s exactly what fans have been feeling. And while there are two blockbusters in between Infinity War and Avengers 4, all eyes are on how the MCU changed in the wake of the snap. How much time has passed? Can the fallen heroes be brought back? We’re just going to have to wait and see, while allowing Captain Marvel to satiate our appetites.

All will be revealed when Avengers 4 arrives in theaters on May 3rd, 2019. In the meantime, check out our 2018 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.

Marvel’s Other Netflix Shows Are Having The Best Time Responding To New Daredevil Clip

Marvel fans got their first look at Daredevil Season 3 recently, and people have been super pumped to see Matt Murdock back in action. However, the news that Matt was alive was still a bit of a shock to his Defenders comrades, all of whom had the best time reacting to the news of his re-emergence on their show’s respective social media accounts. Jessica Jones, of course, had the snarkiest response of the bunch, as she called out the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen for not keeping the other heroes in the loop:

In true Jessica Jones form, the character put up a wall and masked any expression of relief that Matt is actually alive. The Jessica Jones account made sure to double down on her apathetic front in a reply to a fan, and insisted that she wasn’t even concerned enough about Matt Murdock’s supposed death to open up an investigation. Viewers, of course, know Jessica isn’t as cold-blooded as she acts. Thus, we’re guessing her actually learning Matt is alive if it’s shown on television may end up being a bit warmer than her Twitter response.

We’re assuming the tweets Netflix sends out on behalf of the Marvel heroes aren’t canon, although they do tend to mirror the actual characters of their respective series’ quite well. While Jessica acted unmoved by Matt’s resurrection, Luke Cage was all in on the Daredevil star’s resurgence and new message:

The ending of Luke Cage Season 2 showed Luke understands better than most that a hero has to adapt sometimes to fight crime, so it’s no surprise he’s supportive of Daredevil. Luke might be more apt to team up with Danny Rand in comics and shows, but he and Matt Murdock seem to have more similar ideals than his other comic book compatriots. Of course, if Daredevil’s overly dark persona starts to have a negative impact on Harlem, we wouldn’t be surprised if Luke eventually takes to the streets to set his friend straight.

Danny Rand, of course, took the words of Matt as an attack. The hero issued a threat to his ally, and warned him what would happen if Daredevil’s new way of thinking started to leave a body count:

Unsurprisingly, Matt’s former friend Frank Castle didn’t have much to say on social media regarding the teaser, despite the fact they spent a good deal of time together in Season 2 of Daredevil. While it’s certainly on-brand for Frank not to be the type to gripe and make idle threats on Twitter, it would’ve been nice to see The Punisher included in The Defenders affair. Perhaps Frank is off the grid and he’ll respond at a later date?

Daredevil Season 3 is expected to arrive on Netflix before the end of 2018, and with all the recent Twitter shenanigans, one would imagine a release date will be announced sooner than later. Keep up with what’s happening on cable television with CinemaBlend’s fall premiere guide.

Nicki Minaj Pops Off About Cardi B After Shoe Throwing Brawl

The radio comments came out earlier this week, as it was reported by Pitchfork, and Nicki Minaj wasn’t holding anything back in her comments. Nicki Minaj is loosely referring to an incident that occurred at New York Fashion Week, specifically the Harper’s Bazaar Icons party, over the weekend. During this even, Cardi B reportedly lunged at Minaj, and threw some taunts at the fellow musician. It was rumored that Nicki said some derogatory comments about Cardi B’s child, which really got under Cardi’s skin. It’s one thing to attack the artist, but it’s another thing altogether to attack the artist’s children. There’s a video of the altercation, which was posted onto Twitter, although it’s very hard to make out what exactly was happening. You can hear Cardi, though.

Cowboy Boots Are Definitely Coming Back (Like, For Real) For Fall 2018

Cowboy boots? I know what you’re thinking: That’s a lewk. To those who didn’t grow up with them or aren’t used to wearing them in their day-to-day, they can feel a bit kitschy—the silhouette so specific, the detailing on it much more involved than the average ankle boot… It either is your thing, or it isn’t. But judging from the Fall 2018 runways, the Western style is about to go much more mainstream.

Isabel Marant, Fendi, and Off-White are just a handful of the brands that drew from the American West when reimagining their fall boots on the runway, offering a range of interpretations of the style—from smooth, hard leathers to all-over prints. The inspiration has trickled down to more contemporary labels like Ganni, as well as fast-fashion and high-street giants like Zara and Topshop. This season, it’s all about updating a classic without losing its charm, striking that balance between tradition and modernity.

Ahead, check out 20 cowboy-inspired boots to kick off Fall 2018 on the right foot.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 15 Trailer Has Meredith Hooking Up With DeLuca

Grey’s Anatomy has had a lot of staying power over at ABC, largely thanks to the consistency of Meredith Grey and a slew of shocking plot twists that often still have fans on the edges of their seats. This season looks as if it will be no exception, as Grey’s Anatomy has already revealed a twist ahead of the Season 15 premiere. The new trailer is here, and it features plenty of shots of Meredith hooking up with DeLuca.

The trailer kicks off with Meredith Grey having a nice moment with Alex Karev, where he tells here she really needs to finally get over Derek and find someone to be, as Meredith puts it, “her person.” While there’s a ton of other stuff to cover in the 2-hour event episode, including a panicky moment where someone is yelling “back away” in the hospital, there’s also one huge, beard-filled spoiler. That right, Meredith and DeLuca are going to hook up and we even get a glimpse at a full-on steamy bedroom scene between the two.

This is kind of a wild turn of events, considering it was just a few short seasons ago when Karev and DeLuca got into a huge fight. DeLuca had gone to see Jo and Karev had been helping her get into bed after she had drunk too much alcohol. Misreading the situation, DeLuca thought Karev was assaulting Jo and they got into a big fight in which Karev violently injured DeLuca. Things got out of hand when DeLuca pressed charges, but the interesting takeaway to all of this is that Meredith Grey was supportive of Alex Karev during this time and not Andrew DeLuca.

Sure, things have changed on the series since then, but it still seems a little wild to me that Meredith Grey and Andrew DeLuca would ever hook up after those events. But here they are in the sack together. So, the next question to ask has to be: Is DeLuca Meredith’s person? I would expect not. She’s had a few flings since Derek died, but nothing serious has come of them, either because actors left the show or were not the right fit for Meredith Grey. However, DeLuca has been a part of the series for a while and in some ways would be a good fit for a longterm romance. Perhaps it is high time Meredith found a love interest who sticks, as well.

Last month, we learned that Meredith Grey would definitely be a part of Season 15 “Season of Love” and it makes sense she would find a little loving with another hospital resident. After all, it’s way more convenient for Grey’s Anatomy to write plots for characters who already work in the hospital together. We’ll just have to wait and see if this one has any longterm potential. In the meantime, the ABC drama is also teasing some new, attractive doctors, one of whom is played by Alex Landi and will be the hospital’s first openly gay male surgeon. Take a look.

Grey’s Anatomy will officially return for Season 15 starting on Thursday, September 27 at 8 p.m. ET, only on ABC. To take a look at when the rest of your fall TV favorites will be back, be sure to peruse CinemaBlend’s full schedule.
